Before and after the tear repairs on a piece of 1940s wartime propaganda entitled ‘Hitler’s Last Appeal to Reason’. Repairs are carried out using very fine Japanese papers and wheat starch paste.
Half way through repairing the unbound pages of a Book of Common Prayer, 1600; on the left are the damaged pages, on the right are the repaired sections.
Grime and dirt on a vellum covered book from the Kelmscott Press: an area in the centre of the cover has been cleaned revealing the creamy coloured vellum beneath.
